This is Lisa Guerra and I'm the Community Engagement Coordinator at the National Deaf Center on Postsecondary Outcomes (NDC).
Engage for Change | local is a nation-wide project under NDC and we recently finished our first year with six cities. The first year was a success and we look forward to Year 2 with new cities!
For Portland, Oregon, we would love to ask you to consider applying for Engage for Change to take place in your local area. If you feel there is someone else we should reach out in the area to apply, please do send us a reference with their contact information. We are looking for a small group (with a person of contact) who can commit to host the event with our support and resources.
The project includes:
Coordinating a structured event with materials provided online
Communicating with the community engagement coordinator
Documenting quality data for analysis
Committing to follow-up activities after event
The application is due on December 15th and has several requirements. The questions are framed to help us understand what is available in your community and how we can provide support and resources. We also do require at least three identified members who would be committed to support this as a planning committee.
If the application is accepted, we will provide training for how to plan and host an event, the structure of the event, templates for all required materials, and more! We will be available to provide guidance to make the event successful. Lisa Guerra, the Community Engagement Coordinator, will make sure things are going smoothly with the entire process from the application to the follow-up activities.
If you want more information about the application, please do visit this webpage. If you still have more questions before applying or sending us a reference, please do reply to this email.
Thank you for your time!
