Just an update on a legislative bill similar to LEAD-K; except it is called Taskforce on Assessment of Children Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
Many bills are "stuck" in Joint Committee on Ways and Means and what we need do is pressure the following folks
House Representative Tina Kotek
Senate President Peter Courtney
Senator Richard Devlin
Representative Nancy Nathanson
Representative Barbara Smith Warner
Senator Rod Monroe
Below is an example of a letter, but write what you feel or think. Making it personal always helps.
Dear Rep. XXXX
I am writing to you in support of HB 3412, to establish Taskforce on Assessment of Children Who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. It only ask $5,500 toward accommodation cost to allow the group of people to meet and discuss and recommend a framework for assessing deaf and hard of hearing children to determine the children's competencies in language and literacy skills for the purpose of ensuring the children are able to successfully access the kindergarten curriculum in an equitable manner.
As a member of the Joint Ways and Means, will you push to have this bill scheduled for a hearing and work session.
