Job Description:

Access to the Oregon Legislature, communication with elected officials, and clear understanding of legislative processes has never been more important. The Legislative Policy and Research Office is proud to be recruiting for a Language Access Coordinator to help facilitate and coordinate language access services and serve as a point of contact for services, helping internal and external stakeholders navigate the legislative system.


This position will manage the development and implementation of a language access plan for the Legislative Assembly, including:


Conducting a needs assessment for language access services;
Developing a description of the services needed, including in-person interpretation, remote interpretation and written translation;
Conceptualizing, writing, and revising the plan;
Developing educational materials and notices for the general public regarding available services;
Developing training procedures for providing language assistance services;
Ensuring a timely translation and quality assurance process for legislative committees;
Establishing mechanisms to monitor implementation of plan;
Serving as primary point of contact for the legislative branch in responding to language interpretation and translation requests from the general public
