Monthly Meetings Resume on
Saturday, Sept. 21st, at 10 am
Welcome Back! Our first Fall meeting is Saturday, Sept 21, from 10am to noon, at the Wistar-Morris conference room in the main Legacy Good Sam hospital building (details below). Mark Foster, chapter President, will be talking about some of his takeaways from the June-2019 Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) conference in Rochester, New York. Please bring a breakfast item to share if you are able. We will also have some time to meet people, socialize and learn from others.
Please note: The main hospital entrance is closed due to remodeling so look for blue signs with white lettering that say "Hospital Entrance", located to the left of the main entrance. Enter through the temporary entrance and take a left at the hall just past the temporary main hospital check-in. You'll see the Switchboard operator office, and the Wistar-Morris room is the first room on the left.

HLAA Portland Meetings:
Accessibility and Location
Our usual meeting date and time is 10 a.m. on the third Saturday of the month. We don't hold meetings during June, July or August, our annual summer break. Be sure to be on the email list for this newsletter if you want to receive meeting notices.
Our meetings are open to anyone affected by hearing loss -- their own or that of a loved one. Attendees are encouraged to bring any assistive technology that they use to share with the group. Look forward to seeing you!
Future meeting dates:
December 14 (Holiday Potluck, on 2nd Saturday not 3rd), location TBA
January 18, 2020
During the school year (September through May) We meet at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center, NW 22nd at Marshall Street. The meeting room changes from time to time, so be sure to get on our email list to be notified of the location each month.
All of our meetings are accessible to people using mobility devices. For people with hearing loss, at all meetings where we have a speaker or discussion (but not our holiday potluck, and other socials), we provide two assistive systems:
Loop Amplification: At meetings we all speak into wireless microphones. They are linked to an induction loop which carries the sound to a telecoil that's inside most hearing aids/devices. If you don't know whether or not your hearing aid has a telecoil (aka T-coil, T-switch or T-setting), please ask your provider, or ask one of us at the next meeting! We'll be glad to help. This will help you better hear everything said at the meeting.
Real-time captioning provided by Elizabeth Archer or one of her colleagues at Archer Captioning (see below)
Our meeting space is provided at no charge by Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital, in their Wistar Morris Conference Room, on the first floor of the Main Hospital Building, 1015 N.W. 22nd Ave at Marshall St., Find the address and the building on this Google Map.
For a map showing the meeting location and available parking, download the Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital Campus Map (PDF, ~400KB). The main building is #1 on that map.
