The City of Portland wants to better serve people with disabilities and serious health concerns. In response, Real Choice Initiative (RCI), is launching the first major research study of these populations today. The link to take the survey can be found at: http://realchoiceoregon.com/disability-engagement-study/
The Disability Equity and Engagement Study is a collaboration between RCI and the Center for Public Service at Portland State University. It is funded entirely by the City of Portland’s Office of Community & Civic Life and is only for residents of Portland.
I’m writing to ask for support in reaching people with disabilities, elders and others in your communities experiencing serious health concerns so the City of Portland can better serve them by first learning about their needs.
You can support this effort by:
Sharing RCI’s Facebook & Instagram posts on your private pages and organization’s social media.
Sharing information about the study in organizational newsletters or blogs. We have sample blog posts and informational flyers in 10 languages here.
Mention the survey to clients, leaders in your field, friends, and family. It is especially important to share about the study with as many people as possible since some people with serious health concerns do not look like they have health concerns and may never speak about them.
Sharing by word of mouth with elders and people living in group settings. We’re especially interested in learning about the experiences of people living in institutions and are concerned they will have limited internet access.
The survey is available in five languages - Chinese, English, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese and by screen readers. Interpretation will be arranged for individuals who use other languages.
Data collectors are also available to support people who wish to take the survey over the phone at (503) 877-5418 during business hours and by appointment.
Appointments can be made over the phone or through this link: https://realchoiceinitiative.hbportal.co/schedule/60a41321a843a3060fc2ab42.
The first 100 people to complete the survey are eligible for a $20 Visa gift card.
