Woodburn School District's Family University (FamU) Program is seeking ASL instructors to volunteer a few hours each week teaching families how to communicate with each other. In the past, FamU participants in the American Sign Language class have included parents and students together learning to communicate with each other as while children receive ASL instruction at school many of their parents do not. Watching them work together to achieve such as simple goal as talking to your child is a very rewarding experience.
This program is held Tue and Thu from October through March at Lincoln Elementary School in Woodburn, Oregon from 6 to 8:30PM. Other programming includes Adult Literacy, Adult English, GED and Zumba. Children receive math and reading support as well as enrichment opportunities. For more information or if you are interested in volunteering to lead our ASL class please contact the Director.
Note: No experience required. You generally provide your own curriculum. Standard volunteer background check required. Snacks are provided.
